Youth Basketball Program Attendance Policy
**Objective:**
To ensure all participants gain the full benefit of the program while recognizing that occasional absences may be unavoidable.
#### Attendance Expectations:
1. **Commitment:**
- Participants are expected to attend all scheduled practices, games, and team meetings.
- Regular attendance is crucial for team cohesion, skill development, and fair play.
2. **Absence Notification:**
- If a participant must miss a session, a parent or guardian should notify the coach at least 24 hours in advance whenever possible.
- In case of sudden illness or emergency, notify the coach as soon as possible.
3. **Excused Absences:**
- Excused absences include multiple sport athletes, illness, family emergencies, pre-scheduled family vacations, and academic obligations.
- Documentation (e.g., a note from a parent or guardian) will be required for frequent absences.
4. **Unexcused Absences:**
- Failure to notify the coach about an absence or frequent last-minute cancellations may be considered unexcused.
- Three unexcused absences will result in a discussion with the player and parents about commitment to the team, and possible ask to leave the team
5. **Flexibility:**
- We understand that summer schedules can be hectic. If a participant knows of potential scheduling conflicts ahead of time, please discuss these with the coach at the beginning of the season.
- Coaches will work with families to find the best possible solutions.
6. **Reintegration:**
- After an absence, whether excused or unexcused, it is the player’s responsibility to catch up on missed practices or team strategies. Coaches and teammates are encouraged to assist in this process.
7. **Communication:**
- Open and honest communication between coaches, players, and parents is vital. If any issues arise, please address them promptly with the coach.
Q - WHAT IS HOOP GENERATION?
A - We are a full all skill levels, youth basketball organization with select teams, camps, personal training, and mentorship that provides players from all backgrounds with the opportunity to grow on and off the court.
Q - WHERE ARE PRACTICES
A: Austin Sports Center Central and St. Edwards University
Q- WHERE ARE GAMES?
A: Our Local tournament teams play only in the Austin area at various gyms, however our Travel Tournament teams travel out of the city and out of the state.
Q: DO ALL KIDS MAKE A TEAM?
A: Technically, yes! We offer four different skill levels for our teams, ensuring every player can find a suitable fit. If a player's skills don't align with our team requirements, they may initially be placed as a practice player, with the opportunity to join a team once they meet the necessary criteria
Q: When will I know what day/time of my child's games?
A: The tournament schedule is typically posted 1 week to 3 days before the event by the director. Minor changes do occur due to team withdrawals, or other issues that have nothing to do with the organization.
Q: How many games does my child play?
A: The tournaments we play in - will provide a minimum of 3 “pool” play games that are usually at back to back times (10am / 12pm / 2pm) on the same day. If it is a one day tournament then teams will be done after 3 games and a champion shall be crowned from the tournament. If it is a 2 day tournament then the team will enter a win or go home format to compete for the championship for a maximum for 5 games.
Q: Do the parents/cover their own travel expenses:
A: Yes. However, If your child can't afford to travel then we will have financial coverage options and arrangements for your child to be able to attend.
Q - HOW DO I KNOW IF I MADE A TEAM?
If you make a team we will notify you by text & email within 24 hours after the tryout.
Q - HOW MANY PLAYERS ARE ON EACH TEAM?
We carry NO MORE than 11 players on each team.
